Dr. Hilary Janysek is native of Victoria, TX and has taught and performed across Texas and Indiana. She has performed with the Muncie Symphony Orchestra, the Marion Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Brazos Breeze Flute Choir. Additionally, she was featured as a soloist with the Ball State Symphony Orchestra, the Texas State University Orchestra, America’s Hometown Band, and the Victoria Bach Festival. As an active chamber musician and clinician, Dr. Janysek has performed and presented at events such as the College Music Society Conference, the National Flute Association Convention, the Texas Flute Society Festival, and the Texas Music Educators Association Convention. An enthusiastic educator, she serves as the assistant professor of flute and music history at Texas Lutheran University, the adjunct instructor of flute at Schreiner University, and the private flute instructor in Lake Travis ISD in Austin, TX.
Dr. Janysek earned a Doctor of Arts degree in Flute Performance from Ball State University (BSU) in December 2018. There, she studied with Dr. Mihoko Watanabe, held graduate assistantships in Music History and Music Education, and completed a certificate in Entrepreneurial Music. She received her Master of Music Degree from BSU and her Bachelor of Music Education Degree from Texas State University, where she studied with Dr. Adah Toland Jones.
In her spare time, Dr. Janysek enjoys traveling, playing racquetball, and spending time at the Texas beaches.
